Barrel accuracy comes from using the highest quality materials and manufacturing methods. Ed Brown Products is committed to both. The barrels are made from T-416 modified, gun barrel quality stainless steel bar stock, just like a benchrest rifle barrel. T-416 is certified pure, there are no foreign materials, and no hard or soft spots to worry about. It is stress-relieved and heat-treated prior to final rifling and refinishing. Ed Brown barrels are precision machine cut from a 3 pound chunk bar of this top quality steel.
Ed Brown barrels are rifled by precision broach in the original six lands and grooves, one turn in sixteen, left hand twist as originally designed by John Browning. This deep cut, broached rifling gives superior accuracy with all types of bullets, including lead. Ed Brown barrels are heat-treated by an aerospace certified heat treat facility, and sub-zero frozen for maximum strength and stress relief. This means more accuracy and longer barrel life to the shooter. Ed Brown has also cut the dimensions to max tolerance on the outside of the barrel. This means less fitting work for you, and more accuracy.
SPECS: Fits - Government or Commander Slides. Chambered in 45ACP, with a 1-16 twist. Muzzle threads are 0.578×28 threads per inch.
A suppressor equipped with a Nielsen device is REQUIRED for reliability in a 1911. This is also referred to as a booster, kicker, or Linear Inertial Decoupler.

Wilson Combat Match Grade Barrels for 1911
Wilson Combat® Match Grade Barrels for 1911 are known for their unsurpassed quality and accuracy. Wilson Combat® match barrels are fully machined from aircraft grade stainless steel forgings and heat-treated to R/C 40 for maximum service life. Critical manufacturing tolerances are held to less than .0005″ (one half thousandth of an inch!). To give you phenomenal accuracy, extreme care has been taken to assure that the chamber is glass smooth and perfectly concentric with the bore. In our barrel test fixture we routinely obtain test groups of 1/2″ @ 25 yards; the accuracy is guaranteed to please YOU! Throughout the manufacturing process each barrel undergoes multiple quality-control checks, with a detailed final inspection prior to receiving the Wilson name. You can be sure that if your barrel bears the Wilson name, it’s the best there is!
Now you can have superb accuracy (2″ or less at 25 yds. with good ammo) without sending your pistol off to a master pistolsmith and waiting for months. 1911 Match Grade Barrels
A good properly fitted match quality barrel is one of the critical steps in getting the best possible performance out of your 1911 pistol. The barrel however is just one part of the system responsible for accuracy and replacing the barrel alone without paying attention to other items such as frame to slide fit, lock up and barrel bushing will lead to disappointment. Performance, accuracy and function can actually be degraded by a poor fitting barrel.

1911 Match Grade Barrel Manufacturers
I have a pretty strong preference regarding what barrels I will use in my 1911’s. Below is my recommendations in no particular order.
While I’m sure there’s others making quality 1911 barrels these are the brands I use and trust in all my handguns
1911 Barrel Types

The standard GI Barrel
1911 Ramped Barrel - Photo courtesy of Briley
The ramped barrel is as its name implies. The barrel has an integral feed ramp machined into it. The ramped 1911 barrel was designed out of necessity for shooting high pressure cartridges like the .38 Super. These higher pressure cartridges require the case to be fully supported for safety. Feeding reliability is not improved over a properly setup GI barrel. Ramped and un-ramped barrels cannot be interchanged. A 1911 frame must be machined to accept a ramped barrel.
